Policy

Who We Are

Necessity Housing Pty Ltd (ABN 49 643 578 223) is a registered Specialist Disability Accommodation provider. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What We Collect

We collect information you give us, and some technical information about how you use this website.

  • Contact details: your name, email address and phone number
  • Professional information: the organisation you work for, where relevant
  • Technical website data: IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies

Why We Collect It

We use your personal information to:

  • Answer your enquiries and provide the services you have asked for
  • Send you marketing communications, where you have consented
  • Improve our services and how this website works
  • Meet our legal obligations

Who We Share It With

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information with service providers who help us operate, for example Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and LinkedIn for advertising. We share information where the law requires us to.

Cookies and Tracking on This Website

Two things on this website collect information about your visit, and they behave differently. We would rather tell you than leave you to find out.

  • The Meta (Facebook) advertising pixel loads only if you accept. It tells Meta which pages you looked at and whether you sent us an enquiry, so we can see which of our advertisements are worth running. If you decline, or ignore the banner, it never loads.
  • Google Tag Manager loads only if you accept it. It brings in Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people find useful; a Google Ads tag, which lets Google connect an enquiry back to an advertisement; and a second Meta pixel used by our advertising. Declining costs you nothing. Every part of this site works either way.
  • The map on a property page comes from OpenStreetMap, and it loads with the page rather than waiting for the banner, because it is part of what you came to see. OpenStreetMap receives your IP address in order to send the map back. It is a non-profit mapping project and does not advertise to you.
  • A walkthrough video loads from YouTube only when you press play, not before. We use YouTube's no-cookie address, so watching one does not put advertising cookies on your device.

What That Means If You Are Looking at Housing

Browsing accommodation for people with disability can suggest something about you or someone close to you. If you accept advertising cookies, the Meta pixel means Meta can associate the pages you viewed with your Facebook or Instagram account, if you have one. If you decline, it cannot, because it never loads.

If you would rather that did not happen, any of these will stop it, and none of them will stop you using this website or contacting us:

  • Turn off "Activity off Meta technologies" in your Facebook or Instagram settings, which disconnects this and every other site from your account
  • Use a browser that blocks trackers by default, or a private window
  • Call us on 1300 255 495 or email info@necessityhousing.com instead of using the form

How We Protect It

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Your Choices

You can opt out of marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link in any message we send, or by contacting us directly.

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. We respond to access requests within a reasonable period.

Contact Us About Your Privacy

To access or correct the personal information we hold about you, to opt out of marketing, or to make a privacy complaint, contact us:

Analytics and advertising cookies load only if you accept them, and you can decline or change your mind at any time without losing any functionality. Both are explained in full above. See our accessibility page if any part of this site is difficult to use.
