• 34 Macaranga Road is a purpose-built, single-storey home in Bentley Park, south of Cairns, for two participants under the High Physical Support design category.
• Each participant has a spacious bedroom with a built-in wardrobe and a private ensuite, and the two bedrooms are in separate parts of the home.
• A generous open-plan living and dining area and a second living room give residents time together and space of their own.

Living Areas

• The open-plan living and dining area connects to the kitchen and the outdoor patio, so the home feels open and is easy to move around.
• The second living room means residents can do different things without sharing the same space all day.

Bedrooms and Ensuites

• Both bedrooms are designed to fit mobility equipment and leave room for assistance when it is needed.
• Each bedroom has its own ensuite, so personal care happens in the resident's own space.

The Kitchen

• The kitchen opens to the living and dining area, so residents can stay involved in cooking, meals and time together.
• It has an accessible layout with room to move around the benches and appliances, and fittings placed to make daily tasks easier. A separate laundry is close by.

Overnight Support

• The OOA room is near the front entrance, separate from the participants' living areas, so support staff are on hand overnight without being in residents' personal space.
• For SIL providers, the layout lets support workers move between participant areas and shared spaces without unnecessary disruption.

Outside

• The covered patio opens straight off the main living area, with a lawn behind it and the ranges beyond, and the paths between inside and out are accessible.
• A sheltered front porch and a double garage make arrivals and departures easier.
